As this day is drawing to a close so to is my 51st year on this planet. Tomorrow will be the dawning of my 52nd year, hopefully it will be at least as good as this past year has been if not better. We'll see as it unfolds I guess. With what I wrote in my last post one might assume I am concerned about growing old. Not so. As far as I'm concerned I'm not old. Oh ok I supposed chronologically the number might imply otherwise, but that's not how I see it. To me age is but a number, a state of mind. You're only as old as you allow yourself feel.
I'm heading up to my sisters in Topeka tomorrow so she and my mom and others can holler happy birthday to me, no big deal really. But who knows maybe I'll get a chance to take some pictures to post.
That's it for now. Later.

Ohhh what a week this has been so far. When they said there was a heat wave coming they weren't kidding. With the actual temp's being anywhere from 104 to 111 degrees and the heat indexes reaching at times close to 120 degrees, standing out at work was like standing inside a broiler. I know this, it was all one could do to keep one's composure and stay focused on the work at hand. But hey it's summer after all, it's supposed to get hot. We can't go running home every time the weather doesn't suit us. All a person can do is keep plenty of water on hand and try to keep moving forward. Good news is the heat is supposed to break tomorrow, at least for a few days anyway. To top this week off a bunch of us took a few hours off this morning to attend the funeral of a co-worker who died suddenly last Sunday. A grim reminder once again of just how short and precious life can be, and just how suddenly things can happen.
That's it for now. I'm going enjoy the AC I have running and do some blog hopping. Later.

Well, the one holiday that I actually look forward to for a varity of reasons has once again come and gone. All in all it was a pretty good weekend of events, with the parade, carnival and the bands. Here are a few pic's I took over the holiday weekend.

My brother, his wife and the newest member of the family little Mary getting ready for her first parade.

This started out as a big ball of sand.

These guys were good...

a little on the crazy side...

but good!!!

Rockin out to The Little River Band.
